College of Agriculture and Bioresources

nathan_hebert Nathan Hebert
Hello, I am from Kindersley Saskatchewan where I farm and work. I am in my 3rd year of my Bachelor of Science in Agriculture. More specifically I am in my 3rd of 4 years of an agronomy degree. I am running as a Member of Student Council from the Agriculture and Bio resources college. I look forward to representing the interests of the students enrolled in the college of agriculture as well as the interests of all University of Saskatchewan students, both present and future. Thank you for your consideration in the USSU election.

alanna_orsak Alanna Orsak
I am a 4th year student in the College of Agriculture and Bioresources, pursuing a major in Crop Science. I grew up on a grain farm outside of Binscarth, MB but absolutely love living here in Saskatoon. I am passionate about promoting and representing the agriculture industry through 4-H, the Agriculture Ambassador Program. I am looking forward to representing the people of my college, and the whole U of S campus as a Member of Student Council for the USSU.

College of Arts and Science

david_deon David D’Eon
My name is David D’Eon. I am entering into my third year of a Political Studies degree, with a minor in French. I am the president of the Political Studies Students’ Association, an organization that I kickstarted this year, and which holds a membership of 45 volunteers. I can’t explain my love of politics as anything less than a passion. For me, the prospect of representing the college of Arts and Science is a responsibility I take very seriously, because I understand that the USSU has a responsibility to improve the experience of every person that walks through our doors.

I began volunteering for the Women’s Centre on campus over a year ago. I am an advocate for feminism, and I am convinced that having representatives ready to address issues of gendered violence and discrimination is necessary to create a university community that welcomes everyone.

Ultimately, what I am trying to sell you on is my experience. I firmly believe that I have the life skills necessary to adapt and excel within student council, and I am confident that I can leave this position next year having made a positive impact on the university as a whole.

jordan_rea Jordan Rea
Hi! My name is Jordan, and I am running for a position on the University Students’ Council representing the College of Arts and Science.

Next year I will be entering my 5th and final year on campus in the Regional and Urban Planning program. The RUP program has allowed me to take classes and meet students from a variety of different departments at the U of S. My previous campus involvement includes serving as a Year Representative with the Planning Students Association and working as a Resident Assistant. These positions have given me great insight into the many opportunities and challenges students face, and have provided me the skills to navigate problems and provide strong representation.

I am interested in representing you on Council to make sure that the opportunity is available to be engaged with the campus community. In particular, I want to make sure that the USSU’s variety of opportunities and services, from health insurance to student associations, are communicated and easily available to students. I believe it is especially important to engage new students and to incorporate them into the University of Saskatchewan community.

Check out my Facebook page for more information fb.me/electJordan

Thank you, and be sure to vote Jordan Rea for Arts and Science MSC on March 23 and 24!

I am a second year student, going to be entering my third year, and I am majoring in Biochemistry. My time so far at USask has been fantastic, largely because of the extensive student-run groups, programs and opportunities our school offers, and this has motivated me to run for Student Council. I want to make it easier for students to understand what their student government can do for them, and I ensure that if there is any concern or interest brought to me, it will be addressed immediately. I am also involved on campus with various other student groups including being the Vice President Internal for the University of Saskatchewan Debate Society and being the second year representative and acting Vice President Finance for the Chemistry Students’ Society. In addition, I am a volunteer for the U of S Let’s Talk Science group and have previously volunteered with U of S Peer Health Mentors and JDC West. Furthermore, I have participated in other amazing USask events such as Model UN, and represented USask at various debate competitions, including winning Western Canada Championships in February 2016.  The students of USask have been such a positive influence and support for me, so now I want to give back to this amazing community!

jessica_Quan Jessica Quan
Jessica Quan is a third year Arts and Science student working towards a degree in political studies and a minor in philosophy. Currently, Jessica is the vice-president of the Political Studies Students’ Association and is involved with other on-campus groups such as the Arts and Science Students’ Union, The Sheaf and the USSU Women’s Centre. Jessica values connectivity and engagement within and beyond the college will take the steps to sustain such active involvement. Whether you find her spending late nights studying at the Murray library, grabbing a coffee at Louis Loft, or roaming throughout the hallways, Jessica is a friendly and approachable face that can be found around campus. As an individual who values input, questions or concerns, Jessica will take the measures to ensure that your voice is represented in council and that your interests are addressed.

College of Education

The reason I am running for Member of Student Council for the College of Education is because I want to ensure that the college has a voice. Often times I feel as though the voice of the college is not heard throughout the University. I want to be that voice that can bring the issues that our college is facing to council so that if other colleges are feelings the same, we can solve it. As well, when our college is succeeding or new opportunities are happening, I want to share those with the other colleges across the University of Saskatchewan. I want to improve the relationship between undergraduate students and the University so that our voices are heard.

BlankCandidate Alexa McEwen
I’m Alexa McEwen and am in my second year of Nutrition. I would like to be your Member of Student Council because I believe that I will be a strong voice for Pharmacy and Nutrition students. I will ensure that I report back to SPNSS Council every week, to deliver the most current information to the Room Reps to pass on to you. I would also like to be more visible to Pharmacy and Nutrition students to keep current with your concerns throughout the year, and I will work with the appropriate members of SPNSS to ensure you can more easily approach me. As I have served one year on SPNSS Council as the Secretary, and have sat as a student representative on the College Faculty Council, I feel I already have a thorough understanding of the workings of the College and am confident that I can combine my experience with what I will learn on the USSU Council to work with both councils (SPNSS and USSU) to create initiatives to enhance your experience as a student.
I look forward to representing you as a Member of Student Council should you find me to be a suitable candidate!
