Candidates for the 2019-2020 USSU Election
Are you an effective leader? Do you want to make a difference in your campus community? Does the idea of representing students excite you? If you answered “yes” to these questions then you should consider running for a position with your Students’ Union.
The USSU lobbies, debates, and campaigns on behalf of the students they represent. They also facilitate student services and activities, such as U-Pass, Health & Dental, USSU Centres, clubs, peer support, and volunteering.
Through the USSU’s annual General Election, all undergraduates at the University of Saskatchewan have the opportunity to run for positions on University Students’ Council (USC) or USSU Executive. USC is the USSU’s highest governing body and is authorized to make decisions regarding membership, elections, meetings, membership fees, appointment to committees and any other matters that students care about.
USC is comprised of the Students’ Union Executive and Members of Students’ Council representing each college and an additional Councillor for colleges with more than 1,000 students enrolled. There are also seats for representatives for International and Indigenous students.
USC meetings are held weekly from September to April – all USSU members are welcome to attend. Meetings are held Thursday evenings at 6:00 p.m. in the Roy Romanow Student Council Chamber, located on the main floor of Place Riel.
