March 2 – MANDATORY Orientation Meeting for all undergraduate students who wish to run for Executive in the Roy Romanow Student Council Chamber, Room 110.3, Upper Place Riel at 4 pm. Chaired by the USSU Communications & Marketing Manager. Nomination forms will be available at the Orientation Meeting.

Campaign Period

The Campaign Period offers you an opportunity to let students know your platform, your ideas to improve student life, as well as why you feel you would be an effective representative for your constituents.

All candidates must follow the Bylaw and Election policy when campaigning. The Chief Returning Officer addresses complaints against candidates on a case-by-case basis and will implement the appropriate sanctions (including disqualification if necessary).

Forums

Held throughout the campaign period, all Executive nominees are invited to participate in USSU scheduled open forums. These forums are open to the entire student body and offer a chance for candidates to share their platforms and debate the issues. The schedule for forums is posted on this website leading up to the campaign period.

Posters & Advertising

During campaign week(s) candidates are permitted to display campaign materials including banners, posters, and other printed media. The rules and regulations on where and how you can post this material are very strict and are outlined during the Procedures Meeting for all candidates.

The rules are also available in the election policy.

Questions or concerns in regards to campaigning should be brought to the Assistant Chief Returning Officer at acro@ussu.ca

Campaign Video

The USSU provides Executive nominees with the opportunity to film and post a campaign video on the USSU Website and YouTube Channel. Candidates running for Senate positions may also submit a photo and written campaign material to be posted on the election website.

For questions, please email communications@ussu.ca

The Sheaf

The Sheaf typically offers candidates the opportunity to submit their platform details and ask questions of the candidates to be included in an annual election edition of the campus newspaper.
